The Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR) is out for comments for the proposed CHP Communications Tower Replacement project in the Town of Truckee. The proposed project would replace and upgrade CHP telecommunications facilities at the CHP Truckee Area Office in order to meet the CHP’s enhanced radio system requirements. The office and proposed tower is located at 10077 State Route 89 South, Truckee, Nevada County.
The proposed project includes construction if a new self-supporting, four leg, 120 foot-tall tower and an equipment vault as well as underground utility line installation. The proposed project is within the “Gateway Area ” of the Town of Truckee, a commercial corridor with small residential areas located along the length of Donner Pass Rd, between Coldstream Rd/I-80 interchange and the central Truckee/I-80 interchange. The DEIR concludes that the project construction would result in significant, adverse and unavoidable impacts to the aesthetic character of the project site and surrounding areas in Truckee. The project review period will extend till December 21st, 2012. Truckee Town Council will discuss the project proposal and receive input from the public and agencies regarding environmental impacts on December 19, 2012 at 6pm Truckee Town Hall, Council Chambers 10183 Airport Rd.
