Tahoe Donner Marina & Site Tour

The Tahoe Donner Association (TDA) has submitted improvement plans for the Marina at Donner Lake to the Town of Truckee. There will be a site tour on Monday April 15, 4:30-5:30 at the Marina located at 15695 Donner Pass Rd, Truckee CA 96161. There will also be a hearing at the Planning Commissioners meeting on Tuesday April 16, 6-9pm at the Town Hall Chambers. The public is encouraged and welcome to ask questions or make comments at the site tour and the Planning Commissioners hearing. TDA is proposing a series of improvements to the Donner Lake Marina, including grading and terracing for new walkways, conversion of the existing snack bar lawn area into an outdoor dining patio and an enhanced picnic/lawn area. In addition to these improvements, the Association is also proposing the following:

• Installation of new exterior lighting, including pole-mounted light fixtures
• Removal of 20 Jeffrey Pine trees greater than 6 inches diameter at breast height
• Planting of 20 new Jeffrey Pine trees as part of overall landscape plan
• Installation of 2, 4-6’ tall rockery retaining walls adjacent to the beach on the western side of the property
• Outdoor dining in new patio area
• 600 cubic yards of cut and 250 cubic yards of fill
• Total of 350 cubic yards of soil exported off site

MAP is concerned about the tree health of the mature Jeffery Pines on site, future uses at the Marina and whether or not they are consistent with the current uses and zoning as well as potential water quality impacts to Donner Lake. The Town of Truckee has prepared an Initial Study/Mitigated Negative Declaration for the project. View Plans and the Initial Study Here

The public is invited to comment on the draft Initial Study/Mitigated Negative Declaration. The comment period ends on Tuesday, April 16, 2013. Comments can be emailed or mailed to:
